This Ruby Throated Hummingbird is suspended by its tongue from an orange/red flower so that it vibrates with the slightest touch of wind.
The bird's wingspan is just over 4 inches and mounted on its polished burlwood base it stands about 7 inches tall.
It is airbrushed/hand painted here in the studio. It is molded in Pellucida, our proprietary resin compound that resembles but is more durable than Bisque porcelain.
